Events and effective community management are vital tools in celebrating and communicating not only what we do but “why” we do it. Our events give voice to the passion we have for all that we do and create a gateway for community engagement. This Events and Community Manager position is key to IHN’s success and requires a highly organized, creative, detail oriented and motivated person to serve as lead for event planning, revenue generation, community management, content development, production and event sponsorship

About the Role

The Events and Community Manager will be incharge of planning, executing and ensuring success for the IHN Community related events. The manager will also be incharge of managing and growing the IHN community. He\she will build relationships with like minded partners and create an enabling environment through effecting communications to the IHN community. As the Events and Community Manager, you will be exposed to a broad range of business issues, at times working directly on projects with a team of colleagues or independently.

Requirements: 

    • University degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, media or relevant qualification
    • 3+ years of proven work experience as a community manager, events manager or similar roles
    • Experience in running corporate or development communications
    • Experience planning and leading community initiatives
    • Ability to identify and track relevant community KPIs
    • Experience with integrating digital tools into event planning and execution Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Superior time management skills, multi-tasking abilities, team playing skills.
    • Budget management and negotiation skills.
    • Internet research and email savvy.
    • Experience working with Digital channels and with relevant computer skills: Word, Excel, PPT Ability to accomplish projects independently.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism.
    • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Capable of working independently and taking initiative as well as collaborating with the team
    • Ability to work under minimum supervision
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines
    • Motivated, curious to learn and a self-starter
    • Flexible and willing to perform tasks outside of core duties

Key responsibilities

  1. Event planning and management

    • Developing the annual event strategy and plan
    • Running and managing the events calendar
    • Lead all event planning and production meetings and discussions.
    • Seeking & securing event sponsorships
    • Event theme building and campaigns
    • Organize and lead collaboration with the Communications Team on event concept, graphic design/production/printing, and event marketing.
    • Negotiate costs and services with vendors; book event space, arrange food and beverage, order all supplies/decorations, coordinate audiovisual equipment & operation, make travel arrangements (where necessary)
    • Coordinate the logistics for all IHN events
    • Secure volunteers; manage the staff and volunteers working at the event.
    • Secure guest speakers and entertainment; review speeches, write scripts, coordinate rehearsals.
    • Work with the venue to create/revise room layouts/seating arrangements for each event as necessary.
    • Create event sponsorship packages and lead the solicitation and securing of sponsorships.
    • Organize and manage the invitation, registration and attendee check-in processes.
    • anage the follow-up with vendors, sponsors and staff members following each event.
  2. Event Budgeting and Revenue Generation

    • Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project.
    • Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting. Prepare and modify event contracts as requested.
    • Lead the solicitation and securing of sponsorships
    • Create event sponsorship packages
    • Exceed event revenue goals
  3. Community Management

    • Develop the community management/building strategy and plan
    • Manage the member database by maintaining effective communication
    • Co-develop community content and membership drives
    • Build and run an effective community management process
    • Utilizing necessary IH tools to grow the IHN community
    • Integrate community development strategy with the IHN Communications strategy
    • Engage and respond to IHN community in a timely manner
    • Coordinate with Marketing, PR and Communications teams
    • Build relationships with members, ecosystem partners, industry experts and media
